Recognise and learn the importance of the principles, techniques and regulations of the Building and Construction Industry – the key to a successful building project.

Work towards becoming a building professional and become a leader in the building of new residential developments. This program covers the skills and knowledge needed by professional builders in the building Industry. You will learn to run a small to medium construction business and take overall responsibility for completing the construction of a residential building. You will also learn the skills required to understand the processes involved in selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and successfully liaise with clients.

  • All Students must be aged 18 years or over (International Students) at the time of applying for admission to BAA.

  • Satisfactory completion of studies in the home country of the International Student, equivalent to an Australian Year 11/12 Qualification

  • IELTS band score of overall 5.5 (Academic or General) or equivalent in line with the Department of Education and DHA regulations

  • Learners are required to be competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training.

  • You are able to attend the scheduled classroom training sessions as per the timetable

  • You will have access to a computer and the internet for the duration of the course

  • You have access to certain tools (Please refer to our website)

  • For CPCCBC4018 Apply site surveys and set-out procedures to building and construction projects students will need to have access to:

    • Theodolite – Used for Surveying and one of the following used for levelling

    • Laser or Optical Level

  • The practical demonstrations of skills on a building and construction site will be required for some units of competency, near the completion of the course. BAA will reasonably assist those students without access to a building and construction site (where required)

  • For CPCCBC4008 Supervise site communication and administration processes for building and construction projects students must have access to a live building and construction workplace to meet the requirements detailed in the Assessment Requirements of core unit CPCCBC4008 Supervise communication and administration processes for building and construction projects.

  • If the educational qualifications of the International Student do not meet BAA’s admission requirements, other factors may be considered at the discretion of BAA. (Please contact admission staff for more details and refer to Application, Enrolment and Orientation policy for further details)

BAA uses a learning management system (LMS) for online course delivery and assessment submission.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements, with a mixture of classroom, group discussions, and individual research (including online study).

Assessment combines classroom participation, observation, practical and written presentation and self-paced exercises online in the students’ own time.

Study Mode: Full time (20 hours per week) including:

  • Two-7.5 hours sessions

  • One-5 hour self-directed study session per week

This equates for 20 hours of full-time study per week

Delivery Mode: Blended Model supported with Learning Management System.

This certificate will allow you to further your career in many facets of the building and construction industry. With additional experience, you could progress into supervisory roles such as site manager, construction project supervisor, coordinator, planner or builder.
