Construction training with real industry professionals
When you’re choosing a construction course, what you’ll learn is vital. Yet, it’s also paramount whom you’ll learn from.
At Builders Academy Australia, your trainers bring real industry experience into every interaction. They’ve worked on-site, progressed through their careers, and understand what it takes to succeed in construction.
In the videos below, you’ll meet three trainers shaping the next generation. Each brings a different background, teaching style, and approach to supporting students.
Meet Builders Academy trainers with real industry experience
Meet BAA trainer Dave Russo
Dave Russo’s journey reflects what many students are working towards. He started in the trade, built experience on-site, and developed a long-term career in construction.
He began at 18 and worked his way through the industry before moving into training. What sets him apart is that he also studied the Certificate IV in Building and Construction with Builders Academy.
“I actually studied my Cert IV with BAA. Now I’m on the other side, helping students build the confidence and habits that lead to real careers.”
Learning that happens on-site
Dave’s approach is grounded in real-world learning. He regularly visits students on-site and works with them in real job conditions.
“We take a look at what they’re struggling with, what they’re actually excelling in, and we try to build on every avenue and aspect that they’re working on.”
This means your support is specific to your work, not generic or theoretical.
When it all clicks
For Dave, the most rewarding part of training is seeing students connect theory with practice.
“I love seeing the students when it actually clicks, when the theory and the practical come together and everything just works.”
That moment is where confidence starts to build.
Meet BAA trainer George P.
George started his carpentry apprenticeship at 16 and built his career on the tools before moving into training.
Today, he helps students develop practical skills while working towards qualifications like the
Diploma of Building and Construction.
Experience that adapts to you
George highlights one of the key differences at Builders Academy. The training approach is flexible and responsive.
“My favourite thing about Builders Academy Australia is the fact that they’re not really rigid… being able to be more adaptable, bring innovation.”
This flexibility allows training to stay relevant to your work and your progress.
A team-driven learning environment
Training at BAA is built around collaboration. You’re supported not just by one trainer, but by a team.
“We really foster having teamwork… and we’re actually inspiring not only ourselves but our students as well.”
Three words that define the experience
George sums up the environment clearly:
Innovative
Team-driven
Inspiring
These values shape how you learn and how you progress.
Meet BAA trainer Kevin P.
Kevin has spent over 10 years at Builders Academy helping students move forward in their careers.
His focus is simple. Help people achieve their goals and take the next step.
“My job at Builder’s Academy is essentially helping people to achieve their goals and helping them to move on to bigger and better things.”
A career built on opportunity
Kevin joined BAA to apply his skills in a way that would make a real impact.
“From my skills and background, I could really apply myself and achieve success and help this business to grow.”
Over time, he has done both. Supporting students while contributing to the growth of the organisation.
A real view of the industry
Kevin is clear about what construction is like. It is challenging, fast-paced, and rewarding.
“No two days are the same. It is a very exciting industry, very challenging, very demanding… but there’s a lot of reward, a lot of opportunity.”
This perspective helps you prepare for the reality of the job.
The learning experience: practical, flexible, supportive
Each trainer brings a different perspective, but the core experience is consistent.
Real industry experience: You learn from professionals who understand construction beyond theory.
Flexible, student-focused training: Your training adapts to your work, your schedule, and your progress.
Support that builds confidence: You’re supported with practical guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
Construction is a hands-on industry. Learning needs to reflect that.
The outcome: more than just a qualification
The right training does more than help you complete a course. It prepares you for what comes next.
With the support of experienced trainers, you can build:
Confidence in your skills
Clarity in your career direction
Capability to take on bigger opportunities
It’s not just about getting qualified. It’s about being ready for the job.
Looking ahead: learning from people who’ve been there
What stands out across these trainers is their perspective.
They have:
Started where many students are now
Built careers in the construction industry
Chosen to support others coming through
That experience shapes how you learn and how you progress.
